Week 1 ，2- Introduction to sustainability
This is the printing I completed in the workshop on Friday. I used sponge to make a pattern by using different faces. This print was transferred from cardboard and I found the shape of the leaves around me and chose green as the main hue, adding some purple to make it feel deeper. I think the texture of the cardboard print is very fossil-like.
Week 3 ——Emerging Technologies
This week’s topic is related to technology, I used 3D modelling to complete my own costume, but I’m a beginner but I’m still learning how to use the latest technology here to complete a one-to-one reproduction of our costumes, virtual clothing can be very fast to see the effect of the ready-to-wear clothing and the structure. I think it’s very convenient.
Week 4— Nature
I think minerals are one of the necessary running substances of nature, minerals give us a lot of energy as well as a more convenient life, in figure one I tried gypsum to form the texture of ore, the second one matches the first one but I refer to the polluted green world, grasses can’t grow without the air to replenish them but the hot topic of the contemporary times is that the pollution has caused these status quo, in the third one I made the natural world about the pollution world, using pencil shavings. Soil, silica gel, and sulphate paper blown over by a hot air gun.
Week 5— cultural sustainability
I have researched cultural continuity and I think culture as custom, heritage preservation as an entity and whether there are problems with any particular culture in the future, in my opinion the transmission of culture in this day and age and the accuracy of information is something we need very much. But I think the authenticity of the information age is what I want to attack this time, we don’t know if what we know is real or made up by people, I want to express my dissatisfaction with the information nowadays through paintings, I think this is what I have in mind when I look at cultural persistence, the subject of cultural persistence is a very broad one and I think that the element of newspapers is a very good medium to express my emotions.
Week 6 – empathy
This topic for me empathy is that we ourselves in the encounter of some things in the heart will have similar memories or we can stand in the perspective of the person who happened to think about the same problem to get the same results and situation, I think empathy we also have and their own empathic moments. I think there is an inexplicable tipping point between empathy and dreaming, and I use the form of drawing to record my memorable dreams, and I find that I can show this tipping point and the switching of perspectives, and at the same time, I can let the reader feel what it is like to be in a dream. What kind of mood and situation I was in when I was in the dream.
Self reflection
The first thing is the content in the blog . I should read it after writing it, because I found myself in the process of writing my own assessment this week that I sometimes didn’t understand what I meant when I read what I had written at the time, and I think I need to make sure that my blog is more persuasive and accurate, and to think about how to make my teachers and students understand it instead of just myself!I think the content in my blog . It’s a bit too shallow, I didn’t put the photos in a logical way, and I think my thoughts are too jumpy, which may make the whole work not very consistent with the theme, I think next time I should put the logic and the content on the right, and then I should put the process on it more, so that the teachers and students can understand what I mean more quickly. I also think that my research is not sufficient, some of the research may not be very coherent, I should research more carefully so that my work can be easily understood by more people. Finally, I think my work is not very mature, some things are still too simple, I should learn more techniques to make my work more perfect.
You have uploaded a great variation of work in response to the tasks. I love the use of artist research, however I feel you could’ve linked it more to the physical responses possibly using the colour pallet or shapes. The different forms of media you have used in the tasks are very well suited and shown in a professional way. In week one, I think the colour combinations in your prints link well to the theme of nature, the different shades of blue representing the ocean and the warm earthy tones in the second print. To take your work further I would suggest trying to collage your print pieces into new shapes or designs. In week 2, I like the use of the video to show the dimension in the design. I love the way the two separate designs show the versatility of emerging technologies. I am very intrigued by the detail you have shown on the second garment, however it would be great to see it in colour. A possibility to show more about the technology could be showing a sample of a different garment from a dress. The idea behind your responses in week three are very creative, they show you understand the use of texture and linking colours to the task. You have used an amazing range of media for week 3, the colours and shapes remind me of a butterfly, a collection you could look at to take this idea further is Alexander McQueen A/W18, which shows lots of similar inspiration.
